Seek the Lord while he may be found: Call upon him while he is near

Isaiah 55:6

Restoration

Restoration of a relationship begins with removing the things that are rotten and unstable.
There is a large house that inside has become stale and dusty. The window panes are covered in little smudges making it difficult to see out or let unfiltered light in. From the outside the house looks like any other but on the inside in walls and ceiling are covered in tarps and two by fours partially concealed by clever interior design. The house represents a relationship.

In the past this relationship has survived and in seasons seemed to thrive on patch jobs. When a startling problem or a true crisis arose all efforts were made to cover it up with a quick patch. This has been done for many years which has resulted in a continued decay in the problem areas.

A complete restoration of this relationship is absolutely possible through God’s power but it will require a lot of effort and time on your part. Everything needs to be taken down to the studs and examined. Many things are healthy and good and will be replaced but the things that have rot or are flimsy must be permanently removed. This relationship can be strong and healthy but the patch work method must be abandoned.

This stripping must be down humbly with a gentle hand otherwise the foundation, which a strong one, will be damaged making the rebuilding take that much longer. Be patient, wait on God to give the directions. There is a clear path forward but many obstacles are blocking your view of it. So go carefully.

Have faith that it will work during the times when the relationship looks like it is falling apart and beyond restoration. God’s hands are holding it together. If you align your efforts with God’s will the relationship will be restored and stronger.
